In addition the elevated views of Trevone are really quite gorgeous. The perfect house to book year after year ! The two new terraces are spectacular, the glass fronts give uninterrupted views and the hot Tub is perfectly secluded.

North Cornwalls’ Coastal Path is alive with flora and fauna, as well as the myths and legends from its past. My Favourite is a circular walk, Constantine Bay to Porthcothan via a natural pool at Treyarnon beach, views of tiny islands, headlands and tiny coves named after wine. High on the list is across dunes and headland between Rock and Polzeath returning via St Enodoc Church where Sir John Betjeman is buried. We love the iwalkcornwall suggestions, well worth a look!
For the ultimate day, hire a bike at Bridge Bike Hire in Wadebridge, cycle the level 3km route along the stunning Estuary, arrive in Padstow, then secure the bikes, walk around the Harbour town, afterwards the foot ferry across to Rock for a drink at The Mariners.

The famous Eden Project, housed in tropical biomes known as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. Holding events year round from world famous bands to with the incredible ice skating at Christmas. Europes largest garden restoration, Lost Gardens of Heligan; its a world of romance, heritage and adventure, the farm shop on your way out is not to missed too! The Japanese garden is just on your door step, with water gardens, zen gardens and bonsai garden shop. Walk amongst Japanese maples, radiant azaleas and rhododendrons, ornamental grasses and bamboo grove.
North Cornwalls coastline is glittered with sand, on sunny days the water shines like the Caribbean, in winter wrap up for stunning walks, throughout the summer the beaches are perfect for sandcastles, sun bathing and sunny strolls.
WaterGate Bay close to Retallack Resort is an huge stretch of golden sand backed by high cliffs, perfect for surfers, families and swimmers. The next bay along is Mawgan Porth, the perfect family beach with lots of rockpools, caves and even a large stream running down the southern side of the beach. Both are dog friendly, great parking and wonderful restaurants, coffee shops and beach stores. Porthcothan is an expanse of open space perfect for families with a sandy beach that opens out at low tide to connect up with small coves to the north and south. Daymer Bay at Rock, sand dunes sit along the estuary, a calm stretch for walks and relaxation.
Cornwall is well known for its celebrated restaurants. We are so fortunate to have many of these on our doorstep of our holiday lodges. Whether you are looking for romantic meals for two celebrating an anniversary or a family dinner, here are a few of our ideas, but for more please just ask.
The Cornish Arms is just a few minutes drive from the resort, is dog friendly, with log fire and accepts online bookings, a great winter pub to enjoy. Lunch at Wax Watergate Bay is fantastic for groups or families, delicious pizzas, burgers and salads. The resort restaurant looks out over the FlowRider, book the LookOut Restaurant for a good family meal. Catch and the Merry Moor Inn both look out over Mawgan Porth beach, Catch serves great seafood and the Merry Moor Inn a more relaxed family pub menu. For a Padstow restaurant, Paul Ainsworths’ Italian Rojanoes, or take the ferry over to Rock to his lovely restaurant The Mariners.
Takeaways in Cornwall are taken seriously and the quality is superb, rivalling that of restaurants.
Our top takeaway for 2021 is Lobster Box Cornwall. Sensational seafood to your door, for your celebration, intimate or for a large gathering, we highly recommend you book a delivery by them and receive a 10% discount when you mention Queenwood Holidays.
If you are looking for traditional fish and chips, Rick Steins, the well known chef of Padstow offers a fantastic menu, top tip is to download the app before you arrive, to save the queueing. Further along into Padstow are great Pizzas from Embers, book early in the day for evening collection in peak times. If you are looking for a Chinese, we use New Garden in Indian Queens, 5 miles from our lodges.
Cornwall is renowned for the freshest ingredients and on your step are the best suppliers of locally grown vegetables, catch of the day and locally reared meats and delicatessens and farm shops selling the most delicious local produce.
Here are a few of my favourites! Padstow Farm Shop just a few miles from Retallack Resort is brimming with Cornish Produce, deli and meat counter, Fishmonger visit, Cornish gifts and more! There is an online shop too! At Trerethern Farm the Padstow Kitchen Garden is a must visit, with an honesty box farm shop packed with seasonal goodies. The award winning Peter Morris Butchers is close by in our local village, superb quality and parking next door. For a local Vineyard look no further than the picturesuqe Trevibban Mill, just a few miles towards Padstow, award winning wines and vineyard views to enjoy winetasting or their tasty menu.
Cornwall is home to a collection of high-quality courses with excellent practice facilities, great golf tuition and some of the most spectactular Coastal fairways.
My favourite has always been the famous Trevose Golf Course, play along the headland and watch the waves crash. The halfway house is not to be missed! Just around the Estuary towards Rock is the well renowned St Enodoc Golf Course, of the two courses here, The Church Course is ranked among the top 100 golf courses in the world, with towering dunes, this is a testing course. Close by to the Resort is Merlin Golf Club and an enjoyable links golf course at Newquay Golf Club provides breath-taking views over the Atlantic Ocean.
Michelin Star restaurant is located in a beautiful Georgian townhouse in the heart of Padstow. We serve modern British food with a focus on locally sourced Cornish produce. Fantastic service in our warm and friendly surroundings awaits you.
Caffè Rojano of Padstow, part of the Paul Ainsworth group serves a menu of seasonal small plates, beautiful Napoletana-style pizzas and fresh pasta dishes. A fun and relaxed restaurant. Positioned just by the Harbour, its perfect to enjoy a walk around the pretty streets of Padstow.
Camel Creek is just around the corner from Retallack, a vibrant, year-round theme park for the whole family with indoor soft play, outdoor adventure play forts, huge rides, sweeping slides and pony rides. The Park is an all-weathers’ attraction with annual activities reflecting the seasons.
For the ultimate day, hire a bike at Bridge Bike Hire in Wadebridge, cycle the level 3km route along the stunning Estuary, arrive in Padstow, then secure the bikes, walk around the Harbour town and enjoy great food and even an ice cream with views over to Rock.
Camel Ski School in Rock, operates on the Camel Estuary, reach it by the Padstow foot ferry or drive from the resort to Rock, teaching all ages how to waterski and specialising in wakeboarding, wake surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, inflatable rides and waterskiing
