Adventures on Land

Cornwalls ruggid coastline is ready to be explored! If you prefer terra-ferma, there is so much on offer.

North Cornwalls’ Coastal Path is alive with flora and fauna, as well as the myths and legends from its past. My Favourite is a circular walk, Constantine Bay to Porthcothan via a natural pool at Treyarnon beach, views of tiny islands, headlands and tiny coves named after wine. High on the list is across dunes and headland between Rock and Polzeath returning via St Enodoc Church where Sir John Betjeman is buried. We love the iwalkcornwall suggestions, well worth a look!

For the ultimate day, hire a bike at Bridge Bike Hire in Wadebridge, cycle the level 3km route along the stunning Estuary, arrive in Padstow, then secure the bikes, walk around the Harbour town, afterwards the foot ferry across to Rock for a drink at The Mariners.

Cornwall Restaurants

Cornwall is well known for its celebrated restaurants. We are so fortunate to have many of these on our doorstep of our holiday lodges. Whether you are looking for romantic meals for two celebrating an anniversary or a family dinner, here are a few of our ideas, but for more please just ask.

The Cornish Arms is just a few minutes drive from the resort, is dog friendly, with log fire and accepts online bookings, a great winter pub to enjoy.  Lunch at Wax Watergate Bay is fantastic for groups or families, delicious pizzas, burgers and salads. The resort restaurant looks out over the FlowRider, book the LookOut Restaurant for a good family meal. Catch and the Merry Moor Inn both look out over Mawgan Porth beach, Catch serves great seafood and the Merry Moor Inn a more relaxed family pub menu. For a Padstow restaurant, Paul Ainsworths’ Italian Rojanoes, or take the ferry over to Rock to his lovely restaurant The Mariners.

Takeaways Cornwall

Takeaways in Cornwall are taken seriously and the quality is superb, rivalling that of restaurants.

Our top takeaway for 2021 is Lobster Box Cornwall. Sensational seafood to your door, for your celebration, intimate or for a large gathering, we highly recommend you book a delivery by them and receive a 10% discount when you mention Queenwood Holidays.

If you are looking for traditional fish and chips, Rick Steins, the well known chef of Padstow offers a fantastic menu, top tip is to download the app before you arrive, to save the queueing.  Further along into Padstow are great Pizzas from Embers, book early in the day for evening collection in peak times. If you are looking for a Chinese, we use New Garden in Indian Queens, 5 miles from our lodges.

Golf Courses

Cornwall is home to a collection of high-quality courses with excellent practice facilities, great golf tuition and some of the most spectactular Coastal fairways.

My favourite has always been the famous Trevose Golf Course, play along the headland and watch the waves crash. The halfway house is not to be missed! Just around the Estuary towards Rock is the well renowned St Enodoc Golf Course, of the two courses here, The Church Course is ranked among the top 100 golf courses in the world, with towering dunes, this is a testing course. Close by to the Resort is Merlin Golf Club  and an enjoyable links golf course at Newquay Golf Club provides breath-taking views over the Atlantic Ocean.
